Cape Town and the wider Western Cape
Forest wedding venues in Cape Town and nearby worth exploring
Woodland ceremony settings, honest geography and the practical details to check beyond the trees.

A forest wedding can mean vows under a stand of trees followed by dinner indoors, or a reception that stays among the trees. Decide which part of the day you want in the woodland before choosing the venue.
D’Aria is in Durbanville within Cape Town. Winery Road Forest is in the Stellenbosch area, and Die Woud is near Caledon in the Overberg. We have kept those locations separate rather than describing all three as Cape Town venues.
Find a venue that works for both of you
For R299 once-off, Vowspan personally researches three real Western Cape venues around both partners’ preferences and shared wedding brief. We contact venues for pricing, so you don’t have to.
Use the guide below to decide what matters, then share your guest count, preferred area and budget with us.
Three woodland settings to investigate
Official sources checked on 14 October 2026. These examples have an identified tree or forest ceremony setting. A leafy garden alone has not been treated as a forest venue.
D’Aria in Durbanville: a tree ceremony and separate function space
D’Aria’s official venue page describes vows under a canopy of trees. Its estate owner, Barinor, identifies a forest ceremony area under poplars and a separate main hall. That gives you a woodland ceremony option without assuming the meal also happens in the forest.
See D’Aria’s official venue details. Read the estate owner’s description of its spaces. Ask for the wedding layout, ceremony capacity and rainy-day alternative.

Winery Road Forest in Firgrove, Stellenbosch
Winery Road Forest’s official site identifies its address as Vredenburg Farm, Winery Road, Firgrove, Stellenbosch. It describes an exclusive forest ceremony setting, an all-weather chapel overlooking the forest and a separate barn for receptions.
If your priority is getting married among trees while keeping the meal indoors, ask how these spaces connect. Confirm the forest and chapel ceremony capacities separately, the barn’s seated layout and whether the chapel is reserved as your alternative. The website’s advertised travel times are not a guarantee for your guests’ journey.

Die Woud near Caledon, in the Overberg
Die Woud’s official description places it outside Caledon and gives an overall venue capacity of up to 140. The ceremony is held among wattle trees, while the reception is beneath oaks with a glass marquee providing shelter.
This is a wider Western Cape option, not a Cape Town suburb. Ask for the separate seated capacities of the ceremony and covered reception, how the marquee is used in different conditions and the route guests walk between the spaces. Plan accommodation or a return journey rather than treating the trip as a city transfer.
Read Die Woud’s official setting and venue description.
Walk the whole route, not only the aisle
At a viewing, start where guests park or step out of the shuttle. Follow the route to the ceremony, drinks, meal and toilets. Ask about the surface after rain, steps, slopes and lighting after dark. Do not infer accessibility from a ceremony photograph.
Explain any guest’s mobility needs before booking, and request a usable route to each part of the day. Ask whether staff can assist and whether a closer drop-off point is available. Have the venue show you the proposed solution.
Check what the shelter actually covers
- Ceremony: where does the full seated group go if the woodland setting cannot be used?
- Reception: is the quoted covered space included, and does it hold the meal and dancing layout you need?
- Movement: are the paths between spaces sheltered or illuminated, and what is the practical alternative in wet weather?
- Setup: ask about power, sound, candles, décor attachments, supplier access and who handles a last-minute move.
Describe the atmosphere and the practical essentials together
You might want filtered light and trees, while your partner wants warm indoor dining and an easy journey home. Those wishes can belong in the same brief. Specify whether woodland is essential for the ceremony, photographs, drinks or the whole reception.
Then use the venue enquiry checklist to request the floor plans, arrangements and full quote. Compare the confirmed experience rather than the word ‘forest’ on its own.
