A wedding in Tulbagh may become a weekend away for some guests, but the venue’s reception capacity and its overnight capacity are different numbers. Decide how many people attend the wedding, how many stay and which extra gatherings you want before comparing properties.

Montpellier’s official wedding and events page describes a Tulbagh farm setting by the Klein Berg River with mountain surroundings. It publishes catering for up to 150 and overnight accommodation for up to 80. Those figures describe different parts of the visit; they do not mean every wedding guest can stay on the property.

Ask which ceremony and reception spaces would be reserved for your group, what the catering capacity means for your meal format and where the celebration moves if the outdoor area cannot be used. Get a room list and minimum-stay terms separately from the event quote.

Saronsberg: lawns, indoor ceremony options and cottages

Saronsberg describes outdoor ceremonies beneath the oaks on its front lawn. Venue hire includes the gardens, double-volume tasting room and art gallery for indoor ceremonies, together with the main reception hall. Ask which indoor arrangement is your reserved backup and how it fits your entire group.

Its site lists 16 self-catering cottages, exclusively booked for wedding guests, accommodating 51 people. Additional stays on neighbouring farms are mentioned. Confirm the cottage booking requirement, nights and who pays before treating those beds as an optional extra.

The Lapa and pool area can be hired for a pre-wedding function. That is an additional event space to enquire about, rather than an assumed part of the reception booking. Request the current reception capacity and supplier arrangements from the venue.

Manley Wine Estate: a venue limit and smaller package options

Manley’s official wedding page advertises events for up to 120 and an on-site chapel. It links a 2026/2027 wedding package prepared with Tulbagh Wedding Valley. The general venue maximum does not tell you how many guests a particular package includes.

Ask which package matches your wedding, how extra guests are charged and how many can stay under that arrangement. Keep the dinner layout, ceremony plan and included accommodation distinct when comparing it with another farm.

Request the weekend as three separate parts

• Wedding: the ceremony and reception spaces, capacity with dancing, catering, staff and event hours.
• Stay: available beds, compulsory room bookings, arrival times, minimum nights and room cancellation terms.
• Extra gatherings: venue space, food, drinks, staffing and hours for a welcome meal or breakfast.

Make the off-site guest plan workable

For everyone who cannot stay at the venue, identify suitable accommodation and a return journey. Give the transport provider the exact farm pin and ask the venue for a practical pickup point. Walk the guest route and check access for relatives who cannot manage uneven ground.

Compare only the costs you will pay, but keep the required room commitments visible even if guests will reimburse you. Then choose the format that fits both the reception and the stay you want to organise.
